My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Did someone say treats?
Ava came to us with her sister Eva from a southern shelter where both had been found as strays. On the smaller size (11 inches high/20 lbs) Ava is a rare mix. She likes to cuddle but also is very curious and likes to check out her surroundings. Up to date on vaccines, spayed and crate trained too, Ava is now working on basic commands. She gets along well with the other dogs in foster care and will give plenty of kisses if you give her the chance to. She loves sitting on your lap and can be very affectionate.

Ava walks nicely on harness but typical of a beagle, her nose gets her going in ten directions so we believe a home with a securely fenced yard could be appropriate for her. Ava is a bit anxious in new surroundings and can be vocal if crated for too long so a home that offers minimal daytime crating would be best for her. Ava LOVES her food and becomes quite excited when she hears the crinkle of her kibble bag and will dance in circles for a biscuit. Dog experienced homes without small children are preferred because this former hunting dog has a strong prey instinct that could pose a problem if kids are not escape savvy.

While these two girls came in together we feel that separating them is possibly the best option because together they would be quite a lot for a new dog owner to handle. However, if you have experience with beagles specifically, we think it would be wonderful if they could spend the rest of their lives as siblings.
