found a new home!
Plenty of my friends are looking
for one too. Find a pet to adopt.
I am already neutered, housetrained, purebred, up to date with shots, good with kids, and good with dogs.
Handsome Hank is a 4-5 year old purebred Golden boy who was turned in by his owners who could no longer care for him. Tough economic times have caused many pet owners to have to give up their beloved pets. Hank has that classically sweet Golden personality and likes his toys and going for rides in the car. He likes going for walks but needs some work on his leash skills. In his foster home, Hank is enjoying the company of the two resident dogs and gets along well with them. Hank is housebroken and will alert you to his need to go out with a little whine at the door. He was raised with young children and would make a wonderful family pet!
Hank’s foster mom told us that Hank has an “Elvis” style of a smile that is very cute and funny to see! When Hank heard his foster mom compare him to Elvis, he curled up his lip and replied, “Thank you, thank you very much!” His foster mom also reported that Hank has quite the personality - "Unless you want company, close your bathroom door. Otherwise he pushes the door open and walks in and sits between your legs! The hall bath is rectangular and he will walk in, go into the shower, turn around, and stop in front of whoever is in there with him. Funny boy!
Hank is at a young enough age to be an active buddy for many years, but without that over-the-top energy of younger Goldens. Since Hank’s former owner did not keep him on heartworm preventatives, he tested positive for heartworm and is taking some medication to clear his body of the heartworms. Hank is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and will be ready for his new home in late May.

A contract is signed the day of adoption. Under the terms of the contract, all adopters are required to bring the rescue to a vet within 7 business days. The dogs receive basic veterinary care prior to adoption. If your vet identifies an illness that an adopter is not willing to treat, then the dog is returned and a full refund is provided.
The information provided on each dog is based on observations of our vets, volunteers, fosters and when available, trainers. While we do our best to report any and all issues, SGRR does not make any guarantees as to the health or temperament of any dog. Dogs evolve differently in different environments and we cannot predict with any certainty how the dog you adopt will act in your home.
Many of our dogs are fostered in private homes and we do not have a facility to visit. We are committed to our dogs before, during, and after adoption! The rescue retains title to the dog and can never be released or sold. Should the adopters no longer be able to keep the dog, SGRR must be notified so that we can take the dog back into rescue and place it into another home. We reserve the right to remove a dog at any time should we find the adopter is no longer caring for their Golden in a way we see fit. Adopters then have to agree to follow up visits as needed.
