My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Brody is the cutest heeler (hound?) mix EVER and is under 2 years old. He is a very healthy and an outdoor adventure guy! Brody’s “story” is that he showed up at a foster’s property in the rural area of Calhoun, GA and was very shy and withdrawn. One of the thousands of “throw-away dogs here in GA that people dump or give up or let loose and don’t try to find. Too many good dogs and not enough smart owners. All efforts were made to find any current or prior owners- no surprise when no one came to find the cutest Brody. So Andrea, foster mom took several weeks to even get Brody to eat out of her hand and he responded very well to her training and coaxing. Brody is now ready to leave the farm for his forever life and new home in Washington. Brody’s personality is very calm and submissive. He rarely makes a noise or barks, although he will let you know if a stranger enters the yard! He has come so far in the year since he first shyly came to live at Andrea’s house. It took several months to even get him to bring his tail out from in between his legs and even longer to show any kind of happiness and smile, and that was a big milestone! He is still shy but now enjoys life and his place in it! Brody is a little guy, weighing only 33 lbs. He loves the water, he enjoys bath time and is easy to handle and very respectful on a leash. He is somewhat awkward and alittle un-socialized due to his life on the run and then the farm..but learns quickly and is only shy around new dogs and not fearful. He will play with other dogs but likes to take everything slow! Currently he is looking forward to being spoiled and learning the finer things of life. He has spent too much time outdoors, in his dog house and by himself. He does like affection and loves his horse friends and being outside. He is perfecting his house training and his helpers say that’s an easy one using a crate. Because he has spent quite a bit of time outdoors, he’s working on “getting it! Brody would love to be your hiking, running and adventure buddy- he is not needy and happy to be an only dog! Brody would do well in an environment by himself or with another dog or two. He is good with cats, chickens and horses as well! He needs someone who is sensitive to his nature and background and is not loud and aggressive. Brody responds very well to kindness and smiles of your own. Brody is neutered, micro-chipped and vaccinated and hitting the road right now. He truly deserves your love and attention and it’s time he had a taste of the good life in our great state. To meet this cattle dog who’s time has come to get out of the “sticks” contact Pam at raincityrescue@gmail.com or go to www.raincityrescue.com to fill out an online application. Brody’s adoption fee is $300.
