Gustav's Story...

Gustav is a 3-year-old neutered male. He was owned by an elderly person who gave him up to another rescue two years ago. There he became constipated and a local vet offered to give him medical care. He has not been constipated since, so perhaps he was just nervous. He lived for 6 months with a vet assistant, her two dogs and her two cats. He played with most of her pets, but she brought him back to the vet as he did not get along with her older cat. At the vet, he became a live-in even though they had another kitty. They were looking for someone to foster/adopt him, and I took him on as a foster. I have had him for one year.

It took Gustav about five days to settle in and show his true colors. He is a relaxed and friendly cat. He positively loves visitors and rolls on the floor for attention. Visitors always say he is amazingly relaxed. He likes sleeping on his back when you are reading or watching TV, and he almost always sleeps with his person on the bed. If you accidentally bump him in the night, he never moves or takes offense. He is very healthy and of course, after living with a vet tech for a year, his medical care is up-to-date. Gustav likes lots of fresh water and human food if he can get at it, so you will need to make sure not to leave your food unattended.

Gustav has been by himself with me this last year. I could see him being very stimulated with other pets around such as non-agressive dogs and young cats or kittens. He looks forward to a permanent home and family.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Gustav, a Vancouver Domestic Mediumhair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Mediumhair for sale in Vancouver, or seeking a Domestic Mediumhair cat from a breeder in Vancouver.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Vancouver already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Vancouver breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Mediumhair breeders who help with Domestic Mediumhair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Vancouver paves the way for another one to be saved.
