My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

INITIAL BIO 04/17/2013: MEET LEVI! He is an adorable little foster boy who is 4 years old and weighs a scant 3.8 pounds. He should weigh at least 4 to 4 ½ lbs to be a healthier weight; Levi is being fostered in Leesburg, FL.

Levi is such a love and just wants to be held and cuddled up in your arms. He had his first vet visit today and the good news is that he is heartworm negative. He has a healthy heart and good clear lungs. Levi still needs to be neutered and have a dental; it is likely that he will lose quite a few teeth since they are in such horrible condition that it is affecting his breathing. He is being treated with antibiotics for his bad teeth and a skin problem, which we think is a severe yeast infection. In a week we will know if the medication is working or if further testing is necessary to see what is causing his skin issues. Levi will be receiving daily medicated shampoos; he loves the soothing shampoo and warm water on his body.

Levi's biggest issue is his dropped hocks, which means he walks on the ankles of his back legs rather than his pads. He is able to walk and get around and is in no pain, but he is unsteady on his feet. He has a luxating patella on the left which he sometimes favors. He seems to be house- trained, but he needs to be carried out and put down and will do his business and then carried in since he can't walk too far or too fast. As long as he is taken out on a regular basis, he won't have an accident in the house. Once Levi is feeling better, and after his neuter and dental, small splints may be put on his back legs to strengthen them; the chances of this correcting the situation is small, but at least the splints may help to build up muscle his rear legs. Levi is now on a high quality, grain-free diet because the vet thinks he may be malnourished. He's getting softened food now because of his teeth bothering him, but kibble will be added when his mouth feels better.

Levi needs a calm home with a quiet environment, preferably with someone who is home a lot. He much prefers to sit on your lap and be held than to go outside and play. He would probably love to be pushed in a dog stroller and taken for walks/strolls so he can view the world from the comfort of a stroller seat. When Levi is feeling better, his Foster Mom will update his bio and tell you what a fabulous little dog he is, who absolutely deserves his furever home with just the right people to share his life and love with. PLEASE NOTE: Levi cannot go to a home with children due to his small size and his medical needs. If you have children, please do not apply for Levi.

INITIAL BIO 04/17/2013: MEET LEVI! He is an adorable tiny 4 year old 3 lb male yorkie; Levi is being fostered in Leesburg, FL. Levi was surrendered by his owner who was no longer able to care for him. He is on the timid side, and would do best in a quiet, calm home with at least one stay-at-home parent. PLEASE NOTE: Due to Levi's tiny size, he cannot be placed in a home with children. Adults Only!
