My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

INITIAL BIO 04/20/2013: MEET TOMMY! He is 2 years old and weighs a muscular and healthy 16 lbs; Tommy is being fostered in Clearwater, FL.

Tommy has been at the shelter twice in his young life. He was adopted over a year ago and returned yet again. A loving couple saw through his matted hair and knew they didn't want to see him spend any more time in the shelter so they took him home. Once their dog decided he didn't really want Tommy for a new brother, they got him all spruced up and contacted UYR to help find his perfect forever home.

TALK ABOUT ENERGY!? Tommy loves to explore and play. He is still a puppy and loves to mouth your hands (without really biting). Mouthing is still a bad behavior and his foster parents will be working with him on this. Rumor has it that Tommy really likes to try and escape the yard, or sneak out of the door behind you so that he can have dangerous adventures on his own. Only having spent a day in his new foster home, Foster Mom is still learning about his true personality. So far, it seems Tommy would do best with a calm household that could take him on long walks (or maybe even runs) to burn off some of his nervous energy. He may even be a candidate to train for agility, which he would probably love, having all that energy he needs to burn off.

It is already clear that a securely fenced-in back yard would best suit his personality. At this point, he seems a little too anxious to be around small children, but we will see how he adjusts. He is doing just fine with the other little dog in his foster home, but seems a bit out of practice with the best way to start playing. Keep checking this site for updates on Tommy!
