Archie's Story...
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Archie came to us from a puppymill where he was locked up in a cage his entire life until now. He is so happy he is free that he even smiles!  He weighs about 10  lbs.  His coat is starting to come in beautifully and with a few more months of healthy food and fun, he will be stunning.

We don't know if Archie was physically hurt at the puppymill or if he is sensitive to being touched sometimes but he will need someone who will be gentle and reassuring with him.  He has come a long way in the trust department and he just needs the right family to keep the momentum going.  He has a happy bark.  Loves the company of other dogs.  He can't get enough of his favorite beverage - an unlimited supply of fresh water. Sometimes Archie even splashes around in his water bowl so his feet get wet.  Archie is quite the character and we can't wait to see how he continues to blossom.

Potty training is a work in progress.

About ROMP Italian Greyhound Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

Rescue Our Mill Pups (ROMP) is a private rescue organization located in Chicago. We are a 100% no-kill, 100% volunteer run, 100% foster home based, 100% donation funded rescue group whose goal is to rescue as many otherwise 'discarded' dogs from puppy mills as possible, freeing them from the mill cycle and finding loving forever homes for each one. We also rescue dogs from kill shelters, those relinquished by their owners and strays.

No dog should spend its life living in a mill - especially not Italian Greyhounds who are among those who fare the worst under such conditions due to their soft, sweet dispositions and need to bond with their very own human companion. While our focus is Italian Greyhounds, you may see other breeds represented among our adoptable dogs from time to time simply because we could not leave them behind. While mill life is horrid, the dogs in those mills are not. They can be some of the sweetest, most loving dogs around. Please consider giving one a chance to live a normal, happy life.

Come Meet Our Pets...

We are a foster based rescue for which reason we do not have a central location, all our pets are in the loving homes of our volunteer foster families. All pet meet and greets take place after adoption forms are completed so please fill out an adoption application if you are interested in one of our available pups. Upon completion, we will review and if it is a good fit, follow through with a reference check and setup a home visit for you to meet the pup, if approved! Adoption Application

Our Adoption Process...

Italian Greyhounds are not for everyone. Please do your research before making the decision to make one a part of your family. If you feel that an IG would complement your lifestyle and that you could provide your IG with the patience and love it deserves, see the application link: Adoption Application

Our adoption process consists of completing a questionnaire, reference checks, home visit, adoption contract and adoption fee (typically $250-350). Our rescues are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations upon adoption. If you have any other questions, see our adoption FAQ's
