My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This past weekend, we got a call from one of our local friends, who also happens to be a rescuer. She had found a small white and grey pit bull walking loose on the street. One of the superintendents of one of the apartment buildings agreed to hold on to her for a short while until someone could take her and help her. So, off we went to meet the dog to see what we could do. Little did we know, we were about to meet one of the sweetest dogs we’ve ever had under the Bully Project umbrella.

The building’s super had no where to really house a dog except for in the basement of his building: a cold, dank, dingy place, as most New York City basements are. She was resting comfortably in a crate after having eaten some food. We took her out of the crate and played a bit with her, covertly evaluating her behavior and temperament. She was a rock star, despite her horrible circumstances. At only 6 months old, we knew we couldn’t leave her in that basement, and we shuddered to think where else she could have ended up. So off we went with our happy accident, walking on her jerry-rigged rope leash.

We took her to our favorite local pet shop, Furry Fiends. The owner, Amine, was incredibly generous, spoiling Serendipity with delicious treats and donating a brand new Easy Walk harness to get her started off on the “right paw.”

Serendipity is super smart! She has a great automatic sit when greeting people, and was already working hard for treats. She’s only 6 months old right now and weighs approximately 35 lbs. This girl wont be too large when she’s fully grown. She loves all people, and is especially snuggly in calm moments, resting her head on any available body part of the nearest human. She seems to be ok with dogs, but gets frustrated easily when she can’t go right up to them and greet them, so we would definitely recommend training for her to show her the proper way to behave around other friendly doggies.

She will be spayed, vaccinated and microchipped very soon and will be immediately available for adoption once that happens! So if you, or anyone you know, might be interested in adopting (or even fostering!) this sweet puppy, please email us at bullyprojectnyc@gmail.com.
