Dory's Story...
Dory is a 1 1/2 year old spayed female Australian Shepherd whose owner could no longer care for her. She will be available for adoption on May 8th after 6pm; however we are accepting applications now. It is reported that Dory is good with other dogs, but her behavior with cats is unknown. Dory must be adopted by a family without small children, because she does have some food aggression. It appears Dory is house trained since she does keep her kennel clean. Dory is well behaved, but continued training on her leash would enhance that behavior.

If you want to apply for Dory click here. You can then email the application to the Meridian Humane Society.Applications are now being accepted, and a visitation with the dog is encouraged. All applications will be considered and the adoption coordinator will call the person chosen to adopt the dog after the available date.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Dory, a Meridian Australian Shepherd dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Australian Shepherd for sale in Meridian, or seeking a Australian Shepherd dog from a breeder in Meridian.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Meridian already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Meridian breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Australian Shepherd breeders who help with Australian Shepherd rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Meridian paves the way for another one to be saved.
