Peirce's Story...
Peirce is an extremely sweet, adorable, and loving, eight-year-old, eight-pound, male Shih Tzu looking for a loving guardian. Found in Chicago wandering stray, Peirce was a matted mess of a dog. He had to be shaved down to the skin. Peirce gets along with other dogs and loves people. Because his history is unknown, he’s probably best in a home with older children. Peirce has been diagnosed with a heart murmur but he certainly doesn’t let that slow him down. He is vaccinated, micro-chipped and heartworm-tested. His adoption fee of $200 benefits Famous Fido’s Rescue Group. To meet and possibly adopt Peirce, please fill out the on-line adoption application at: and follow up by contacting Gloria at or 773-907-0305. The rescue has dogs of all sizes and ages looking for loving guardians. They spend their days at the Famous Fido Dog Boutique and Bakery at 5430 N. Clark Street in Chicago’s Andersonville neighborhood. Stop in and meet some of these lovable souls.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Peirce, a Chicago Shih Tzu dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Shih Tzu for sale in Chicago, or seeking a Shih Tzu dog from a breeder in Chicago.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Chicago already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Chicago breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Shih Tzu breeders who help with Shih Tzu rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Chicago paves the way for another one to be saved.
