My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sasha has an infectious smile and with her eyes she welcomes everyone into her life. She is a gentle girl that loves attention from anyone. She is the type of dog that would be a child's best buddy. She is tolerant and always trusting and giving. Very affectionate but not intrusive, she does enjoy being with you. She also enjoys going for walks, playing with her toys and generally just being a part of things. Sasha is approximately 2 - 3 years old and currently weighs just under 70 lbs. She is not that tall but heavy set.

Here is what her foster family had to say:

Sasha is a very friendly, playful and social dog who gets along great with people of all ages. She LOVES affection and is always open to giving you a cuddle. She has shown no aggression towards people or other animals. She is not shy with anyone. She is very affectionate and willingly gives cuddles to whoever would like them.

Sasha is a calm dog who is well socialized and has no known fears. Loud noises do not bother her and when I get out the vacuum to clean she thinks it is a game and wants to play. She loves playing and enjoys toys. Her favourite is a stuffed frog that she likes to carry around but she is also a big fan of tennis balls and is enjoying learning to play fetch. She loves games that can be shared with her people. She is quiet in the home and when we are not playing with her she easily settles.

Sasha knows her basic commands such as sit, stay and shake a paw. She loves going for a walk and walks well on a leash. She will pull a bit at first but soon falls in step with you. A little further consistency will soon have her completely leash trained. She is intelligent and very willing to please. She has already learned to sit and wait patiently for a treat. She works well because she loves affection and will try to do whatever she can to please you, working for praise. She does like to mooch at times hoping for a treat but she will never go out of her way to steal food. She has a nice coat and as long as she gets a good brushing now and then she sheds very little. She does try to follow us out the door when we are leaving but just a "no" and she is more than willing to move out of the way. She will cry a little when we first leave but settles fairly quickly and never barks.

Sasha is fully house trained and is very good about letting us know when she has to go out. She will just walk to the door and sit there waiting. She is also crate trained but we have not found a real need to keep her crated as she is fine left on her own and doesn't get into anything she shouldn't. We do have a crate set up for her and she will often go in there for a nap and she sleeps in it through the night but the door is always open.

When she came to us her ears were bleeding at the tips from bug bites but they are mostly healed now. Otherwise she is a healthy, happy girl. Whoever owned her previously must have kept her outside most of the time. I think she was never given the affection she so desired from people. Now she is just a loving girl that thrives on attention and being a part of things. She is just a great overall pet and companion.

I think Sasha would do well in just about any situation where her people love her and include her as part of the family. She will work very hard to please you and is definitely a "best friend" kind of dog. She is gentle enough for children and would love to have some kids to play with. She would do well with a backyard to play in and would be fine as an only dog or with another dog in the home.

If you think Sasha would be a great fit for your family, please submit an application for consideration.
