My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Rex is at least 7 years old. My inlaws adopted him from a private shelter on Vancouver Island 4 years ago. He is Shepard/retriever cross and weighs 73 lbs. He is black and tan with a heavy coat. He is up to date on all vetting, has had his teeth cleaned and a small growth removed from his head. He is in good health and not on any medications. He is a bit hard of hearing when it comes to certain sounds. Rex is very friendly and really enjoys his walks and being outside. When on neutral ground he is friendly and playful with other dogs, however at home he displays aggression when it comes to food, toys and space. He is with us in our small apartment with our dog. We have to keep them separate as he will be fine with her until she does something he doesn't approve of at which time he attacks her. We have a front room barricaded off for him because of this problem. He would prefer to be with us and barks to let us know this! He would be a fabulous single dog and a great companion for someone with a fenced yard or dog run. I would not recommend he go to a home with small children as he is possessive of food and toys. He has had minimal training, but will sit for a cookie. He is ok on leash. We cannot keep this dog as we live in such a small space.
