Kelly's Story...
Kelly is a 7-8 year old Purebred beautiful blonde Female. Kelly is a quiet girl that you can count on to be good in the house while you are away. She has been to Chatfield Dog Park with a large gaggle of Goldens and never wandered away. She is a bit timid but her foster family is working on that with her confident foster brother. Kelly recently had a beauty day so she's ready to show herself off now.

Kelly will be a perfect dog for a smaller, quiet home. She has accepted all other dogs with no problems at all. Her foster family is not sure about cats or young kids. She has not been around young children yet but likes everyone that she has met.

Kelly is not exuberant and not very active, but this may change as she starts to feel better. She is a bit fearful of loud noises. Kelly really is a very affectionate loving girl. She will be a perfect family member for the right family. Kelly is not quite the hiking companion, a leisurely walk is more her style!
Is this sweet girl the one for you?

Kelly tested positive for heartworm and will receive treatment at GRFR's expense. Kelly will be put on the "slow kill" heartworm protocol. This means that she'll receive 30 days of antibiotics and a Heartgard tab every two weeks for 6 months. She'll then be re-tested at GRFR's expense for heartworm. This process works a bit slower but is a much safer process for our older dogs. All bloodwork etc... is covered if done at one of our contracted vets. Kelly's family will need to be sure she takes a monthly heartworm preventative year round for life. Some people might be leery of a dog like Kelly who has had heartworm, but there is no need to be. It is both curable and preventable.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Kelly, a Denver Golden Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Golden Retriever for sale in Denver, or seeking a Golden Retriever dog from a breeder in Denver.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Denver already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Denver breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Golden Retriever breeders who help with Golden Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Denver paves the way for another one to be saved.
