Mike's Story...
Mike is a handsome red merle Australian Shepherd born in October 2008 who finds himself in need of a new home due to changes at home that left no time for him. Aussies are an active breed that require lots of exercise and stimulation and Mike is no exception. An intelligent boy, he participated in formal training as a pup and would love to continue, perhaps even take up agility or other organized doggie sport. Mike is housetrained and can be left free in the house when nobody is home. He currently weighs in at about 65 pounds as a result of his less active lifestyle and needs to lose a bit. Mike does not seem fond of the unpredictable movement of toddlers, so would do best in a home with older children or just adults. If you are familiar with the needs of this breed, Mike is ready to start his new life with you.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Mike, a Rigaud Australian Shepherd dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Australian Shepherd for sale in Rigaud, or seeking a Australian Shepherd dog from a breeder in Rigaud.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Rigaud already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Rigaud breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Australian Shepherd breeders who help with Australian Shepherd rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Rigaud paves the way for another one to be saved.
