Dolly's Story...
Sweetheart searching for everlasting love….

Hello, my name is Dolly and you guessed it…I’m a Doll! I’m a 3-4 year old petite Harlequin Great Dane. My life has been a roller coaster and I have been put through the ringer! I was surrendered to Animal Control by my owner and I was full of heartworms and had entropian affecting all 4 of my eyelids. Animal Control gave me my first round of heartworm medicine and adopted me to another family. They returned me within 3 months because I had all these health issues and I didn’t feel good. Luckily, Animal Control called the Forever Friends Great Dane Rescue and here I am telling my story!!

I love people, I love dogs, I love cats, I love kids…I just love all the way around! My foster mom says I’m the sweetest girl and she is right! I love to get affection from her, I’ve even been known to push my foster siblings out of the way to get loved on by her! Don’t worry, I’m not mean about it, I just get so excited that I don’t care who is around, I’m getting all her kisses and hugs!! I definitely would prefer a quieter home. You see, I’ve been through so much that I like to lounge, especially in the sun coming through a window! Once I see a comfy dog bed, I’m plopping down on it and I’m not moving….well, maybe for food! I don’t want to be the only dog. I definitely prefer a brother-dog or sister-dog to keep me company, I just feel safe that way.

I’ve had some puppies in my life and my body has some wear and tear to show for it. My tummy muscles just aren’t strong anymore. For instance, when I got spayed, I ended up with a hernia because I just couldn’t heal. I’m so glad the rescue has fixed me up! My eyes are all healed now and they don’t bother me…before they itched all the time! I would prefer a home where my humans are home a little more than “usual.” Sometimes I have potty accidents because I just can’t hold it. Plus, I don’t want to have to wait 7 or 8 hours for someone to come home and love on me!

If you have a quiet home and need a forever friend, please fill out an application for me. I deserve some peace and quiet but most importantly snuggles and loves!

Please be mine,

Dolly

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Dolly, a Indianapolis Great Dane dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Great Dane for sale in Indianapolis, or seeking a Great Dane dog from a breeder in Indianapolis.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Indianapolis already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Indianapolis breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Great Dane breeders who help with Great Dane rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Indianapolis paves the way for another one to be saved.
