My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This is Dakota a 5 year old Lab.
Dakota was adopted from the Sarnia OSPCA ( Papers on file) when she was 8 weeks old. Dakotas' owner passed away and Mom was diagnosed with an illness and not able to keep Dakota.
Dakota is very timid when meeting new people, but a leash and a good walk usually help to bring her around.
Dakota needs a family who are older and have lots of patience. She has really come out of her shell with the shelter staff and volunteers, but is still timid with strangers.
Even tho Dakota was terrified at first, she has shown no signs of aggression with people.She gets along very well with Otis and was great with Roxy, American bulldog boxer x
Please call the shelter for more info on Dakota..
UPDATE MAY 23 2013:::
DAKOTA OR OKIE AS SHE WAS CALLED IS STILL WAITING FOR HER FOREVER HOME AT THE SHELTER.
SHE LOVES HER WALKS WITH GLORIA AND HAS A GREAT TIME MEETING NEW DOGS. SHE CAN BE INTIMIDATING WITH THE NEW DOGS AT FIRST, BUT SETTLES NICELY AND STARTS TO PLAY..
HER FAVORTIE GAME WITH SUSAN; CAN'T GET MY TAIL!!!!... DAKOTA ACTUALLY SMILES WHEN SHE IS DOING HER FIGURE EIGHTS TO KEEP HER TAIL SAFE.
SHE ALSO LOVES HER POOL, GETTING INTO IT AS SOON AS HER WALK IS FINISHED..
PLEASE CALL FOR MORE INFO OR TO MEET DAKOTA..

JUNE 5 2013;
Well Dakota is showing a really fun side. She hope when she gets to go to the grassy area beside the shelter. She has awesome recall and does not wander too far away. When bored or tired she will lay beside Susan in the grass for some special attention.
Lets get Dakota her forever home soon. Her new family is missing out on such a great companion.

UPDATE JUNE 22 2013
Well Dakota has been on a trial with Butch a 14 year old Cairn Terrier. Ken, Butch's owner reports that Dakota is an awesome, loving and patient girl who wants nothing more than to be with her people. The ONLY reason he is not able to keep Dakota is due to Butch. Butch can't stand another dog near Ken and will retaliate on Dakota. Dakota has never retaliated against Butch though.
Dakota has been in care since April 18 and NEEDS a family who will allow her the use of the backyard, her pool ( she LOVES water as well as playing ball) and their heart..
