Sloan's Story...

5/13/13 This is Sloan. She and her friend Ivy were abandoned in a house, along w/ 3 other chihuahua mixes, when their owner moved away. The local animal control officials got them out of the house, and took them to the shelter where they were slated for euthanasia because they were scared to death and didn't want people picking them up and messing with them. Can you blame them? They were terrified. Poor babies. Sloan and Ivy are both about 1-2 years old. They are sweet girls, but typical chihuahua personalities - they are one person dogs. They are shy with new people but they bond quickly once they warm up to you. They do not have to stay together, but they do well together if anyone was interested in adopting them both. Sloan is very attached to her foster mom and loves to sleep in bed with her at night and cuddle. She does ok with kids, but young ones are scarey to her, if they are loud or rambunctious. She is not aggressive though, and would do well with older kids who know to be gentle and calm around her. Sloan is spayed, heartworm negative, up to date on shots and routine vet care. She was 11lbs when I had her spayed on 4/18/13. She is located in Arkansas and will be transported to the northeast once adopted. For more info, email

About Adopt-A-Stray - CT

About Our Rescue Group...

Adopt-A-Stray was founded in Jan. 2010, by Kelley Prichard. Since then, it has grown to include a few wonderful volunteers who work very hard to help ensure that our pets are place in loving, forever homes. We are based in Alexander, AR, but we list all of our available pets in the northeast. We work with several different transporters to get our babies to their new homes in the northeast once they are adopted. The transporters we use most often are Got Orphans Transport ( and Alpha Dog ( pets are given age appropriate vaccinations before they leave. Every pet is seen by our vet prior to transport. If you see a pet listed that interests you, please be sure to read the description thoroughly and inquire to the email address listed. Thank you for considering a rescue dog!
