Smudge's Story...
Smudge is a darling boy who wants to play with everybody. Because he is very easy going , he gets picked on by more dominant yardmates. He is deaf and so needs to be touched or signaled to get his attention although his focus is usually on a human. He is leash and crate trained, sits on command (visual) and comes to signal. He is very sweet but jumps up too often as submissive behavior. (licking a human face is submissive). He is very energetic and needs a large fenced yard and lots of exercise. He is 95% housebroken and just needs to learn how to let you know his needs. He would make a great pet for the right patient and loving family. He is heartworm negative.
Although Smudge is currently in Amite, Louisiana, transport to New England can easily be arranged through Animal Rescue Front.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Smudge, a Groton Labrador Retriever/Blue Heeler dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever/Blue Heeler for sale in Groton, or seeking a Labrador Retriever/Blue Heeler dog from a breeder in Groton.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Groton already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Groton breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever/Blue Heeler breeders who help with Labrador Retriever/Blue Heeler rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Groton paves the way for another one to be saved.
