LEWIS's Story...
LEWIS is a Basset Hound found wandering in a remote rural area. He was returned to his people a couple of times, but the third time he was found on the road, he was brought to The Refuge. We estimate his date of birth to be 2003-2005. He's a crusty old fellow, with a lot of "dings" in his exterior from many years of hard living and having no one to care whether he lived or died. He has now been vaccinated, neutered, de-wormed and has even had an extensive dental cleaning. He is also now current on monthly flea, tick and heartworm preventives. Lewis is a good old dog. He's smart, and he's a survivor. He'd be happy with a nice fenced yard, a dog house, and regular meals. Mostly, he needs someone who can appreciate how special he is. He likes to ride in the car, especially if he can press the magic button to roll down the window and feel the wind in his face. He also walks well on-leash. He will soon be going to another foster home where, if possible, he will work on house-training. Lewis prefers the company of female dogs to males but will tolerate some males, if they're not disrespectful. He likes humans of all varieties. He would love to find a human who cares enough to give him the very best, something he's never had. For more information, please contact Janel Miller at dogrefuge@gmail.com.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

LEWIS, a Paron Basset Hound dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Basset Hound for sale in Paron, or seeking a Basset Hound dog from a breeder in Paron.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Paron already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Paron breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Basset Hound breeders who help with Basset Hound rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Paron paves the way for another one to be saved.
