Shelby's Story...
Meet Shelby - A caring resident found sweet Shelby when she was 3 months old. She was standing all alone looking for food by the entrance of a Shell gas station near Lockwood and Navigation in Houston's East End. She had no microchip or collar, most likely dumped.
Shelby is extremely intelligent and very affectionate with all, especially children. She gets along well with other dogs. Shelby is very energetic, loves running, playing fetch and her stuffed animals. When at the dog park, she is a little shy at first but once she gets comfortable, she truly enjoys herself.
Shelby is an 11 month old lab mix, about 38 lbs. Currently in a foster home, she is crate trained, fully vetted, micro chipped, spayed, and heart worm negative. Please help us find this sweet girl a great forever home that she deserves.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Shelby, a Houston Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Houston, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Houston.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Houston already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Houston breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Houston paves the way for another one to be saved.
