Dixie's Story...
Dixie is an adorable, loving, gentle and sweet, two-year-old, 35-pound, female English Red Tick Coonhound looking for a loving guardian. Dixie is living in a foster home where she has proven wonderful with people of all ages, and she loves playing other dogs. She will make a wonderful family pet. Dixie is full of kisses and tail wags for everyone she meets – although she has not yet been cat-tested. She has the most delightful disposition. Surprisingly for a hound, she is not too noisy. She would love a home with another dog to play with. She is good on leashed walks but doesn’t know any formal commands yet. She is food-motivated, so that will come in handy when trying to train her. She is crate-trained and housebroken; she’ll go to the door to let you know she needs to go outside. To meet and possibly adopt Dixie, please contact her foster mom Samantha at palsplace1@hotmail.com or 773-615-9864. Her adoption fee of $250 benefits the rescued dogs of Pal’s Place. She is healthy, spayed, de-wormed, up-to-date on vaccines, micro-chipped, heartworm-tested, and on monthly heartworm preventative.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Dixie, a Chicago English (Redtick) Coonhound dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a English (Redtick) Coonhound for sale in Chicago, or seeking a English (Redtick) Coonhound dog from a breeder in Chicago.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Chicago already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Chicago breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even English (Redtick) Coonhound breeders who help with English (Redtick) Coonhound rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Chicago paves the way for another one to be saved.
