My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Please see http://mwbcr.org/ourfosterdogspages/fosterdogbrody.html for more information and to contact his foster parents!

Brody has been with us for only a few days and already acts like he has been a part of the family for the past 10 months of his life. He is a very handsome boy and knows it.... Brody is FULL of energy and will require a home that wants an active dog. One walk a day will not be enough... he needs that plus a very fun job. Brody has done excellent with our dogs, he is not dominant and will back off when our older dog asks him to. He does have puppy energy and will try and push his limits with our younger dog... he can normally convince her to play with him and I noticed he really doesn't play rough, mostly just chasing and pawing at her. He really loves us but I have not introduced him to strangers yet until he has had some chance to settle in with us. He has very strong herding instincts so attempts to herd the cat often. Our cat is very dog savvy and has already threatened him so he keeps his distance from her, he is afraid to get too close, however, he does herd her. I call him off and try to distract him so he understands herding household pets is not okay.

Brody rode to our house very quietly in his crate and will sleep the entire night silent in the crate. He will go in on his own if I direct him at it, I haven't decided if he knows "kennel" yet or just what I want. Either way its apparent he is incredibly smart and quick to learn. I am actually surprised with his energy and not being crate trained how much he likes his crate. A crate will be required in his new home because he likes to go there when he needs a little down time and has gone in there on his own. Brody will settle down in the house and relax while we are but if we get up he is right on our heels ready to join the fun!

Within 10 minutes he figured out how to get treats for rolling over. He also knows sit and lay down fairly well. Brody does not have a recall yet and is very distracted. Like I said, his herding instinct is high so he is easily interested in people, dogs and cars. In the house however, he seems to respond pretty well to come. A good recall may take some time and so he will not be safe off leash until then. He is so much fun to work with and for someone that wants to do agility, fly ball, herding or anything like that, he would be absolutely fantastic and a blast to train. He is incredibly fast as well so would probably be a pretty good competitor.

There is way to much to share about this special guy and I am learning new things every day so feel free to email me if you have any questions and I can try and answer them for you!
