Spike's Story...
SPIKE is a small dog with a big personality. Spike came into our care when his owner moved in with her boyfriend and his two large dogs. For reasons known only to Spike, he decided to be aggressive towards the much bigger dogs and although friendly, they quickly began to resent Spike’s bad behavior. A fight broke out and Spike’s owner, who feared he would be badly hurt or killed, contacted Dogs Forever.

Spike is in a foster home with two Chihuahuas and a lab mix and he has been calm and friendly. He is six years old, 8 lbs., and a miniature dachshund/miniature pinscher mix.

His adoption fee is on a sliding scale of $100-150; you choose the amount that's right for you. To meet Spike, contact dogsforever@netins.net or 319-481-0977.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Spike, a Cedar Rapids Dachshund/Miniature Pinscher dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Dachshund/Miniature Pinscher for sale in Cedar Rapids, or seeking a Dachshund/Miniature Pinscher dog from a breeder in Cedar Rapids.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Cedar Rapids already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Cedar Rapids breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Dachshund/Miniature Pinscher breeders who help with Dachshund/Miniature Pinscher rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Cedar Rapids paves the way for another one to be saved.
