Josh's Story...
Josh is a beautiful Border Collie who is almost 1. He is house trained and sits by the door to let you know when he needs to go out. True to his breed, he is very smart. He will sit and wait for food and treats. Also, he will sit and let you walk in or out the door first. Josh is trained to heel right beside you, and to sit when you stop walking. Sometimes he forgets to sit when he sees another dog, but with a little more training he should be fine.

Like any young dog, Josh is full of energy and playful. He loves to retrieve and to play with other dogs. He will do very well in an active home where he has people to play with and help him run off his extra energy. If he sounds like the right fit for your lifestyle, come meet him at our next Adoption Stand. Complete an application at www.henricohumane.org to get started.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Josh, a Richmond Border Collie dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Border Collie for sale in Richmond, or seeking a Border Collie dog from a breeder in Richmond.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Richmond already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Richmond breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Border Collie breeders who help with Border Collie rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Richmond paves the way for another one to be saved.
