Gilligan's Story...
Gilligan, oh Gilligan – what a boy! He is a very sweet chocolate boy and is about 2 years old, small in size weighing about 45 lbs. Gilligan came from a horrible shelter and when Lucky Lab Rescue got him he was so emaciated. He is looking good now with all the special care and attention he has been getting. Gilligan is a medium/high energy boy who is crate trained, very sweet, loves attention, gets along great with other dogs, shy at first and a bit skeptical of men, and is very treat motivated. He would benefit greatly with obedience training and someone with patience who could teach him about basic manners. Gilligan would love to have a home of his own and would do best with a family with older more gentle children and a less chaotic environment or a single adult or couple. He would make a wonderful companion as he is so funny and loving. Gilligan is neutered, heartworm negative, up to date on vaccinations including rabies and micro-chipped. If you are interested in learning more about this really sweet and deserving boy, please indicate Gilligan in the notes section of the online application

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Gilligan, a Salem Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Salem, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Salem.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Salem already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Salem breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Salem paves the way for another one to be saved.
