My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Described most recently by his sitters as "suspiciously friendly", yours truly as "the only cat in Chicago to be named for the prime minaster of Norway," visitors as "absurd", and by the vet as "structurally sound", Jens Stoltenberg (né Whimsey) is arguably all of this and so much more. Everyone says their cat is friendly, but Stoltenberg may actually have them all beat: he quickly acclimated to his new home with me, greeting me at the door whenever I came home, then riding on my shoulders with a strange mixture of apathy and intrigue. When it got cold, he slept by my pillow and would wake me up by nuzzling my face or rubbing my feet. I have never -- and I mean literally never -- heard him his. That's how easy-going and genial he is. Loving enough to make you suspicious he's even feline and with a fluff BMI that's off-the-charts, Stoltenberg is a friend to anyone and everyone within a fifty mile radius.

Update: Whimsey is a very handsome, slightly tubby, tuxedo boy (and thanks to his fosterers, he’s making progress with his weight). He’s got beautiful green eyes and a cute black nose which, combined with his tuxedo, make him very distinguished. Whimsey really likes being around people and isn’t shy at all. He greets his moms at the door with a lot of affection whenever they arrive at home, and will generally try to be in the same room with them, although always doing his own thing and trying to appear independent. In meeting new people, he is a little hesitant but will warm up within minutes and happily make friends. He likes being petted for a short while, although he gets fed up after a bit, and will sit next to you on the couch or constantly rub against your legs if you´re standing.

He’s estimated to be about 3 years old and is still a kitten in many ways: he loves sitting in the window and hunting the birds and squirrels outside, and will chase his ball around the apartment all the time. While he appears to be a quite dignified, portly gentlemen, he definitely has moments of indignity: he loves lying sprawled on his back, showing his tummy (although those who interpret this as an invitation to pet it do so at their own peril) and he has a rather peculiar trot which turns into an altogether ridiculous gallop when he´s especially excited. In terms of manners, he uses his scratching post and litter box both very well, although he is rather energetic in his pursuit of food which can lead to an inquisitive nose intruding into his moms’ personal space during dinner.

He’s a great cat to have around if you like having a furry, affectionate presence in whatever room you are in, enjoy the occasional undignified antics, and don’t need a cat that will always be hanging off of your shoulders or sitting on your lap but rather will be sitting next to you and twining around your legs.

Whimsey has been fully vetted: spayed, chipped, tested neg/neg for Fiv/ Felv, vaccinated for rabies and distemper, and treated with Revolution. He is ready to go to his forever home!
