Velvet's Story...
Velvet is a 3 month old lab mix, who currently weighs about 12 pounds. She is a very sweet, gentle little girl who loves to snuggle in your arms. She is a little on the shy side, but warms up quickly once she gets to know you. She is good with other dogs of all sizes and ages. Her first foster home said she slept through the night in her crate without a peep or poop! Although she is a new arrival we think she will make a great family dog.

We can't say for sure how big Velvet will be when fully grown, so she needs to be adopted by someone willing to take pot-luck in terms of her ultimate size and breed. Since she's young, Velvet needs a family where someone is home part or all day to get her potty-trained, keep her exercised and socialized.

You can meet Velvet at Wilmette Pet Center, 625 Green Bay Road, anytime during store hours 7 days a week. (847-251-6750, www.wilmettepetcenter.com). Although you may want to adopt her on the spot, please know that you will have to go through the application process first.

Velvet's adoption fee of $335 includes: vet exam, DAPP (distemper combo) vaccination, bordetella vaccination, rabies vaccination, flea & tick preventative, deworming, microchip and spay.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Velvet, a Mt. Prospect Labrador Retriever puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Mt. Prospect, or seeking a Labrador Retriever puppy from a breeder in Mt. Prospect.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Mt. Prospect already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Mt. Prospect breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Mt. Prospect paves the way for another one to be saved.
