BELLE's Story...

Please note: Our dogs are NOT located in Lenoir, NC. They are in foster homes throughout NC, SC, and VA. You must be willing to drive to the dog’s foster home in order to adopt it. The location of each dog is listed at the bottom of its bio.

Our Available Dogs are updated daily. If you see a dog on our site, it is available for adoption on that day. Emails asking if a dog is available for adoption will not be answered.

Just as the Available Dogs are updated daily, so are the bios. The bios are very descriptive and tell everything we know about a dog. If something is not listed in a bio, we do not know it at the time you are reading it. Emails asking for more information will not be answered.

BEFORE you can meet any of our dogs, you must be approved to adopt. This means you must first download an application from our website and submit it via email or fax (1-910-401-1317). A vet check or a reference check is then completed and if that goes well a home visit is done. The entire process takes 3-7 days normally, depending on your location. If we do not have anyone in your area to do your home visit we will ask you to reach out to local vets offices, shelters, and rescues to get this done.

Please do not apply to adopt a dog if you are not prepared to welcome it into your home within two weeks of applying. We do not hold dogs and we adopt them out on a first come first served basis based on a completed adoption process.

SRC does not adopt out its dogs to families with children under ten years of age. This is for the protection of the dogs and for the protection of the children

Once you are approved to adopt you must make your donation online via our website and sign an adoption contract BEFORE you pick up your new dog. SRC does NOT do meet and greets on the same day as adoptions so if you want to meet the dog first, you must make two trips to the foster home. Keep in mind that if, while you are waiting to meet a dog, another approved applicant decides to commit to it, the dog is no longer available for adoption.

BELLE (SRC#1431) is a four month old female Chihuahua mix puppy who came to SRC with her siblings and Mom when she was just a few days old. Belle is an honorary Schnauzer and she is just the cutest little girl you will ever meet.

Belle weighs 6lbs and is estimated to be around 12lbs full grown. She is a tiny girl who is petite and small boned. She has the typical Chihuahua personality in that she likes to be with her humans all of the time, but she does also like to play with the other dogs in her foster home. Belle is the dainty one of the litter, watching the others play and not wanting to get too dirty or rambunctious. Belle would prefer to be dressed up in a tutu and carried around than to rough house with the boys.

Belle is doing very well with her house training considering she is so young. She needs to be kept on a schedule to be let out and she does wonderfully. She definitely knows that outside is for doing your "business." Belle is also crate trained as well as almost being house broken. She is a smart girl and it wont be much longer until she is 100% house broken.

Belle will make a wonderful addition to any family.

Belle is up to date on her shots, spayed, microchipped, and on monthly heartworm and flea preventative. Her adoption donation includes thirty days of pet insurance and microchip registration for one year.

This adorable little Chihuahua mix female puppy came to SRC in desperate need – Belle (SRC#1431) is an eight week old girl who barely weighs 2lbs. She is estimated to be 10-12lbs (MAX) when she is full grown.

Little Belle and her siblings came to SRC from a kill shelter where they were dumped by their former family. These puppies and their Mom Lacey (just 12lbs) were scheduled to be euthanized and SRC could not let that happen, so here they are.

Belle became ready to go to her new home beginning May 1, 2013. She is spayed, has had two sets of puppy shots, is microchipped, and has been de-wormed to prepare for adoption.

Tax-deductible donation requested at time of adoption for this dog is $300

All these precious ones are getting great medical care and enjoying their family time yet soon it will be time to venture out into a family of their own – so the perfect family should be ready for each one of these adorable ones . SRC will post more photos of them as they become available. Watch this website and also FACEBOOK ( to see them grow and flourish. Perhaps one or more is just right for your family? Why not apply to adopt them today? Time passes quickly and they will be ready for placement soon.

Please meet this adoptable canine who has been rescued by SRC from certain death or potential horrible abuse. It is our worthy mission to assure that BELLE whose unique SRC identification number is (SRC #1431) will now have a happy and healthy life. Ours is the first step to assuring this happens! As soon as this needy canine comes into our custody this rescued dog will be examined by one of our professional SRC veterinarians who will give administer a medical examination of this dog which includes but is not necessarily limited to heart-worm and fecal testing, de-worming, updating of necessary vaccinations, spay or neuter if not already done, micro-chipping and any other medical procedure which our SRC approved vet feels is required to assure this rescue’s health at that time. Once this dog is cleared by our SRC approved vet, then this rescued dog is placed in a loving SRC foster home for a minimum of two weeks so that their foster parent will be able to adequately evaluate the demeanor and needs of this dog now in their care. This way the foster parent is able to give very valuable information to the adoptive parent about their future family companion in order to assure the upcoming adoption day will be a happy and successful one! We at SRC strive to match our rescued canines and adoptive parents as closely as possible so both SRC rescued dog and its permanent family will be very happy together for a long time to come.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

BELLE, a Lenoir Chihuahua/Terrier (Unknown Type, Small) puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chihuahua/Terrier (Unknown Type, Small) for sale in Lenoir, or seeking a Chihuahua/Terrier (Unknown Type, Small) puppy from a breeder in Lenoir.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Lenoir already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Lenoir breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chihuahua/Terrier (Unknown Type, Small) breeders who help with Chihuahua/Terrier (Unknown Type, Small) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Lenoir paves the way for another one to be saved.
