My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Misty is a 1 1/2 yr old Retriever Mix. She is a BIG sweetheart. She looks like she definitely has some German Shepard in her, and she is smart like a Shepard too. She knows how to open doors, so any door that is not dead bolted is not off limits to Misty. When she first arrived she was using her door opening skill to escape and jump the back fence(only 4' high). She would do best in a home with a 6' fence. She has settled in to foster home and is not trying to escape anymore. She loves people and wants to be near them all the time. She does good about sleeping on the floor next to the bed, but she does like to climb up and give good morning hugs and kisses at about 6:00 AM. She also loves to join her foster parents on the couch for tv watching and cuddle time. She is a little big for a lap dog, but don't tell her that. Misty walks great on a leash. No pulling at all. Her foster family thinks she can be good off leash too once she knows her people and her name. They took her to the Cherry Creek reservoir off leash area, she did great for a while, but then she lost site of them and got confused. After a little chasing she finally caught site of her foster parents and came running straight back.

She is extraordinarily smart, and she is still quite young. A little training will go a very long way for Misty. She does great with her foster siblings, however she can be a little domineering with dogs she does not know. Some of that may be related to just leaving her puppies. Her alpha side seems to be diminishing as the days away from her puppies increase. She would do great as an only dog or as part of a pack with other confident dog(s). She is also great around kids. Her foster family has not seen her around cats, but based on her reaction to bunnies and squirrels their guess would be that she is not cat safe.

Misty is going to make a very great loyal forever friend for a lucky person or family - could that be you?
