Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Finley is a handsome young male Border Collie.. He is such a happy go lucky dog, and loves companionship. Fin is also a fast learner and is eager to please. He isn't too interested in toys but will carry a ball around in his mouth or chew on something if there's nothing else going on. This may change as he gets comfortable in his foster home.
Although he loves to play with other dogs, he also loves to stare at and herd them, which many dogs find to be pretty annoying and just plain rude! Fin is also very nervous around new dogs and likes to be properly introduced before the other dog tries to play. After he gets to know another dog, though, and if they don't mind his herding, they will be romping around together for hours!
Finley does have a decent amount of herding instinct. He has not been around livestock, but will try to herd anything that moves, including people. The good thing is that he does have an off-switch and it's pretty easy to get his mind on something else other than herding. He does need to be monitered when outside, though, because one of his favorite things to herd is moving cars! Finley needs at least a 4 foot fence, although taller would be ideal.
A typical Border Collie, Finley is very smart. He already knows a few commands. Finley's recall is probably about 60%. He understands the word "come" and will come to you immediately if he's not distracted by something more interesting, like another dog or a car. He is happy to please his owner, though, and very treat motivated, so this is something that will be eas
Finley is not aggressive towards children but is very nervous around them, and does not want to be near them. Because of this he should not go to a home with children under the age of 10 and should be monitered closely around younger house guests, neighbors, etc.
