My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Darius is your typical Rottie! He has a wiggle butt, leans on just about any body part he can find, he loves to swim, is a very laid back, easygoing pal! Darius also knows some commands, listens very well, rides great in the car, likes to play with toys and while Darius likes to snuggle at night he is not overly affectionate.

Darius was abandoned by his previous owners and while that might general be a bad thing, we think it was a good thing. You see Darius was not in the best shape when we saved him from the kill list. He had a skin infection along his back, was very skinny and lacked muscle tone. Additionally, his previous owners never took care of torn ACL's on his back legs and hip issues. Darius gets around very well - running around the yard and the house with much vigor, wrestling with his canine foster sister who is much younger and very relentless in her play! At this point in Darius' life his knees and hips cannot be fixed. We have been giving him regular exercise and thanks to our great volunteers, time in the pool, which as you can see from the photos, Darius is an excellent swimmer! He has already gained muscle tone and strength in his legs and as stated, his legs certainly don't slow him down!

Darius is a very large dog and plays very well with medium and large dogs. Unfortunately he doesn't understand his size when it comes to small dogs so it would be best for Darius to be placed into a home without them. Darius is looking for a home with regular walks, not too far and if you have a pool or access to a pool that would be a HUGE bonus for Darius. So if you are looking for a large, loving Rottie, Darius is the boy for you! He is super sweet and won't be with us for long so fill out an application for him today - www.azrescue.org.

Darius weighed 103 pounds when we saved him from the kill list.
