Philip's Story...
Meet Philip!

At 3 years old and weighing in at 16 pounds, here's Philip! He is quite the fluffy bounder. But no worries! Underneath all of that fur, he’s all purrs, and love. Just look at those big round eyes!

Philip was adopted as a kitten, and has spent his past three years in a loving home. He was quite the rambunctious baby. Though he’s calmed down considerably, he’s still full of energy, and has his very best years ahead of him. He LOVES to play, and will happily chase any toy (He's captivated by laser pointers!) for as long as you can keep up!

Philip is very snuggly, and loves people. He collapses into back rolls and purrs as soon as you enter the room.

He’s a total lap buddy. Like most cats, he kneads his paws when he’s happy, but amazingly, Philip can do it without poking you with his claws! Such a conscientious little fellow. He has NEVER bitten or scratched, much preferring avoidance over confrontation. He currently lives in a home with a toddler, and has never hurt her.

Alas, Phillip is a pretty shy guy. Especially in new situations and around loud sounds. He appreciates places to hide when things get noisy. (He spells vacuum cleaner, DANGER RUN!) He also doesn’t seem to like it if you’re carrying something large. Taking out the trash? Don’t worry, he’ll get out of your way.

As you can see, he’s pretty fluffy, so he does shed. He’s had lion cuts in the past, which helps considerably with the hair. Regular brushing is also a plus.

Phillip lives with an older cat, and they get along great. He would likely do fine with other cats. But he’s never met a dog, and would probably be pretty scared of one.

He’s neutered and tested negative for feline leukemia and FIV, and he’s up to date on his vaccines.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Philip, a Merrifield Domestic Longhair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Longhair for sale in Merrifield, or seeking a Domestic Longhair cat from a breeder in Merrifield.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Merrifield already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Merrifield breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Longhair breeders who help with Domestic Longhair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Merrifield paves the way for another one to be saved.
