April's Story...
*April is part of a bonded pair, and must be adopted out with her buddy Hamish
Breed: Dwarf mix Size: About 3 pounds Color: Red eyed white Approximate DOB: 12/1/2012 Reason in rescue: April was living in a teeny wire cage with no hay. So she came here to find a new forever home! Personality: April is a very energetic girl who loves to play and run around and binky and doesn't like to sit idle in a cage! Initially April was very scared and would box you and whimper when you tried to pet her. Since she's been spayed and bonded to her boyfriend Hamish, she has become a lovey, cuddly, sweet girl who loves attention and cuddles, and doesn't mind being held! Special Needs: None. April is now bonded to Hamish and they must be adopted out together. She is good with polite dogs and cats. Requirements: Must be adopted as an indoor animal, with an as large as possible plastic bottomed cage or puppy pen. Adoption process: An adoption application must be filled out (email for the application), and approved by us. Then we will arrange a meeting time to see the animal of interest. A home visit is required prior to adoption. Suggested adoption donation is $75 which includes their spay/neuter and first vet visit . **Please email if you are interested in adoption. We respond to all emails within 24 hours** Recommended Food: Oxbow or Kaytee timothy pellets, about 1/4 cup a day, unlimited timothy hay, and 2-3 servings of veggies a day, especially fresh greens like romaine, green leaf, dandelion, spring or baby mixes, etc. Bedding: Newspaper, Yesterday's News, Cellsorb, or Carefresh

Why Adoption is a Great Option

April, a Edinburg Dwarf was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Dwarf for sale in Edinburg, or seeking a Dwarf from a breeder in Edinburg.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Edinburg already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Edinburg breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Dwarf breeders who help with Dwarf rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Edinburg paves the way for another one to be saved.
