Virgil (foster care)'s Story...
Virgil is a 3 year old, jack russell/rat terrier mix who weighs about 18 lbs. He is so full of love and can bring so much joy that it sometimes breaks his foster mom's heart when he jumps if he is touched around the neck and hasn't seen it coming. Little is known about his background as he was a stray- however it is clear that during his life he was sometimes treated well and sometimes treated badly. Virgil has gorgeous coloring and the silliest long legs. Everything else about him is pure toy fox terrier. He is smarter than his foster mom, funny and impossibly cute.
As Virgil continues to live in his foster home- it is clear that he should be the only dog. He is fearful of most interactions with other animals- cats and dogs, and he wants his human's full and complete attention. He is constantly at foster mom or dad's side and even jumps into the shower with mom.
He dances around like a circus boy and 'falls in love' with humans quickly despite the obvious fact that they've let him down. When he has time just with Mom he is so happy that he dances about and just wants to get closer and closer. He is fully potty trained and adores his treats. He will steal your heart so profoundly and quickly that if you are looking for a doting companion, a lap dog, apartment dog whose main goal is just loving you- then this guy will meet all your needs.

Contact Linda, his foster mom, and she will happily tell you all she feels and knows about him- contact her

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Virgil (foster care), a Philadelphia Jack Russell Terrier/Rat Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Jack Russell Terrier/Rat Terrier for sale in Philadelphia, or seeking a Jack Russell Terrier/Rat Terrier dog from a breeder in Philadelphia.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Philadelphia already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Philadelphia breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Jack Russell Terrier/Rat Terrier breeders who help with Jack Russell Terrier/Rat Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Philadelphia paves the way for another one to be saved.
