Shroomie was brought into a local vet clinic by Animal Control with a bullet wound in her neck. They had received a call about a “Pitbull” being shot, and when they arrived they found this sweet little Boston Terrier. Shroomie was in shock and paralyzed, not even able to turn her head. But, she had these huge black eyes that showed her pain and fear. She was left with the clinic to care for her for a couple of weeks and they kept her in the front office. Animal Control called about coming to get her to put her to sleep since there was little chance for her to recover the use of her back limbs. Their hearts were broken thinking about this sweet little 2 year old girl being put down when she was such an imp. She had won their hearts. One of the vet techs at the clinic convinced Animal Control to let her have Shroomie. She immediately began water and massage therapy. Within 3 weeks, Shroomie was running all over the house getting into mischief like a small puppy. She loves long walks and swimming in the lake. She plays with toys occasionally and loves Begging Strips! She likes to be held and will stand in front of you hopping on her back legs with her arms up until you pick her up. She will also twirl on her back legs if you tell her to dance. She is an amazing dog and very intelligent. Shroomie is intimidated by large men, but with patience and a gentle touch and voice, she can be won over. She is great with small children and women, but doesn't care much for cats. She is good with other dogs, epecially those her own size. She is housetrained and very laid back once she settles in, but she also loves to run outside and in the house, smiling all the way!
