Beautiful, sweet and affectionate

Lucero (Bright Star) is a beautiful, intelligent, gentle, amazing girl with a perfect personality.  She was dumped in the high desert and is currently safe with C.A.R.E.  She is very affectionate and would love to be a lap doggy, but she probably would need two laps on love-seat to handle her adorable self. ;)   She also "talks" - can't describe what it sounds like but when she's happy and excited, she says something that is definitely not a bark but some special doggie lingo.

About C.A.R.E. aka: Cat/Canine Assistance, Referral & Education

About Our Rescue Group...

Our Mission is:

To demonstrate that responsibly managed animal sanctuaries provide a compassionate, humane alternative to the mass euthanasia of unwanted pets.

To provide the dogs and cats in our sanctuary with a great quality of life until their forever loving homes are found, or for life.

To responsibly seek loving homes for all cats and dogs in our custody and provide quality lifetime care to those who are not adopted

To offer support to individuals who have rescued cats and dogs.

To educate pet owners toward more loving and permanent relationships with their pets.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Our sanctuary facility is in the high desert - that is, out in the country - in northern Los Angeles County. Visits are "by appointment only." If you are interested in meeting a pet, we make every effort to faciliate your visit and in the past have even brought pets down just to meet potential adopters.

Our Adoption Process...

Our adoption process includes a completed application followed by a telephone interview and a home check. Upon placement, a contract (for the protection of the pet) and a donation of $250 (for dogs and cats) are required. E-mailed requests for an application will be responded to within 24 hours, and once the application is received, a volunteer will call within 48 to 72 hours. At that time, arrangements will be made for the candidate to meet the pet, answer questions, etc.
