My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Micki is a wonderful dog who loves people. She has done well with kids in the past, but does not live with any children at this time. She does live with cats and does well with them. Micki can be very reactive/aggressive towards other dogs, and has gone through some training to help with that issue, but needs to be an only dog in a home.  Micki needs to be placed in a home with people who have experience working with dogs who are reactive to other dogs. She must be on a leash or in a secure fenced yard when outside.  Micki was born in 2011. Being a senior gal, she has some urinary incontinence which is controlled with a medication called Proin and it works great.

Micki has been through several basic obedience classes, as well as some specialty classes to help her with impulse control. She is very treat-motivated and eager to please. Some of the commands she knows include "sit", "down", "stay", "come" and "place". She walks with a gentle leader, but is still working on heeling nicely.

One of Micki's most favorite activity is to play fetch, and she would play it all day long if she could. She is extremely athletic and very focused on the ball. Micki likes to go swimming, especially if it includes fetching a stick. She also likes to play with toys, but gets a little too excited at the sound of anything that squeaks. While in the house, Micki is very well-behaved and is just happy to be with her people. She also loves to go on car rides and is a great co-pilot.

MICKI NEEDS AN EXPERIENCED DOG PERSON AND FENCED-IN YARD/NEVER OFF LEASH.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Welcoming a pet into your home is a commitment of time, patience, money and love. You should think very carefully and do your research before adopting any animal. Rescued Tails Animal Sanctuary spays / neuters all companion animals before adoption. All animals are vaccinated, dewormed, heartworm tested (dogs), feline leukemia tested and microchipped. If you find an animal that you are interested in on our web site please call, or e-mail us, and we will gladly tell you more about that special animal. Our experienced volunteers will help you select a companion animal that will fit your personality and lifestyle. We want you to experience a rewarding, lifetime relationship with your new companion. If you find a furry friend you wish to adopt you will fill out an adoption application and then a home visit will be set up. At the time of adoption you will fill out an adoption contract and pay the adoption donation.

Go meet their pets

Some of our pets live at our sanctuary in Shell Lake, WI, and others are fostered in homes in the Twin Cities, MN area. We do adoptions days at least once a month. We can make arrangements for you to meet any of our pets on an appointment basis.

More about this rescue

Rescued Tails is a small group of volunteers who believes that every life is valuable, and that every healthy or treatable animal is worth saving. We have an affinity for those animals whose chances of being rescued from impounds or kill-shelters are minimized due to breed, age, temperament and/or color. We provide training or seek medical treatment when applicable to ensure that every one of our animals gets a chance at a new beginning.
