My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Franklin has settled in and become acclimated to his new surroundings and foster-family much more quickly than we'd ever hoped. He loves playing (wrestling and running around) with his foster-brother and tolerates, with good manners, being bossed around by his foster-sister. He has also become quite attached to his foster-human family and will give a little moany whine when separated (though he does stop after a minute or so which is a relief!)

He has had a busy week of meeting many house guests, going for rides, and lots of walks. He takes plenty of naps and seems to prefer sleeping on the floor more than on anything. We have not ever observed Franklin jump up on anyone - he is very respectful. He is learning his eating manners (sit, stay, eat) as well as staying out of the kitchen while any food (human or Boxer) is being prepared and staying out when the humans are eating. He's catching on to things super fast!

Franklin loves cuddles and hugs and to give lots of kisses. He is super sweet and deserves the best possible forever home. We think he would do best in a house with another dog who shares his love of play and with a mommy, daddy, or family that will give him all the love, cuddles and attention he could ever want. We continue to work on his leash reactivity to other dogs and we have narrowed it down to medium to large dogs. We are using a clicker and treats to break his intense concentration on stimuli. Working one on one with him has been producing good results. Franklin will benefit from a Boxer savvy, confident master(s). We adore this lovable boy!

Meet FRANKLIN!! This very handsome boxer boy is 2 years old and coming into rescue because his current home does not have the time to dedicate to him. He is shy when he first meets new people, but when given time and space, he quickly warms up. Franklin’s current owner reports that he is very reactive on leash. He will bark and lunge at passing people and other dogs. When evaluated, we didn’t witness this behavior while he was being walked by our volunteer, but Franklin’s new owners need to be aware of this and be willing to work with him. The same reactive behavior is reported to happen when he is in the car. Franklin has no history with cats, but he does love to play with other dogs at doggie daycare. Provide this boy with a dog of equal energy, and he will play until he can’t play anymore! The ideal home for Franklin will be one that provides him with consistency, structure, confidence, and plenty of exercise. He’s looking for strong, confident leader. One who will help him to overcome any fear that he may have and someone to help build his confidence. Franklin' new family must willing to work with a trainer. He needs someone who can work with him using positive training methods on a daily basis. He’s a young boy, full of love and wiggles. Please help give him a chance.
