WATCH MY VIDEO! Howie is a 2 ½ month old male Terrier/Chihuahua mix. His coat is black with Brindle and has a soft wire type feel. He currently weighs 4 lbs and will be about 8-9 lbs full grown. While visiting the San Bernardino animal shelter to get another dog, we noticed Howie trying to work up his courage to make the daring 5 inch leap off of his shelter cot. To see him being so careful and concerned about his personal safety, yet knowing that he is anything but safe in a high kill shelter tugged at our heartstrings and we knew we couldn’t leave him to an unknown fate.

Howie is an all around great little puppy. He is social with all people and likes to follow you around. He is happy and outgoing but also settles himself down with a toy if you are too busy to play with him. He has already been introduced to the leash/halter and did wonderful on his very first walk. He is also well behaved during car rides. One of the most adorable things about Howie is his lying position. He will flatten himself out like a little bear rug with all legs stretched out flat.

Howie is very smart and will be easily trainable. One of the things I love in a dog is great eye contact. Howie will sit himself down and look at you for guideance and direction on what you have planned. He will also let you know if he needs something. The first day we had Howie his food ran out and he stood in front of his bowl and let out a little whine, then looked right at me. He was clearly communication and knew how to ask for what he wants. Smart boy!
Howie is well socialized with other dogs both big and small. He likes to play but also respects when one of the older dogs tells him to take his puppy antics somewhere else.
He is doing great with housebreaking and will go to the bathroom right when you take him out. Being so young, his new owner will need to continue in guiding him through the learning process.

Howie is dewormed and up to date on his vaccinations. A neuter contract must be signed by the adopter for all dogs under 4 mos of age.
