Twyla's Story...
Twyla loves everyone!! Twyla can hardly contain her excitement at simply being alive! She dances with joy, so we named her Twyla after famous dancer and choreographer Twyla Tharp.

Twyla is around 10 months old and 55 pounds. We believe she is part lab, perhaps mixed with boxer for the beautiful brindle coloring. Whatever her breed, she is a sweetheart who wants to please. She likes people and dogs alike. We do not know how she would be with cats. Twyla came to us from CR Animal Control, where she had been since April. Twyla needs training, as she gets excited and jumps on people. But she is eager to please so a consistent and diligent trainer will have good results. She is high-energy so she needs daily exercise to be happy and healthy.

Our adoption fees are on a sliding scale; choose the amount that's right for you. Fees for senior dogs (7 years and older) are on a sliding scale of $90 to $125; fees for dogs 1-6 years are on a sliding scale of $125-$175; fees for dogs under 1 year of age are $150-$200.

If you are 65 years or older, the adoption fee is waived when you adopt a senior dog. All Dogs Forever dogs have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated against rabies and distemper/parvo, tested for heartworm and Lyme disease, and microchipped.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Twyla, a Cedar Rapids Labrador Retriever/Boxer dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever/Boxer for sale in Cedar Rapids, or seeking a Labrador Retriever/Boxer dog from a breeder in Cedar Rapids.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Cedar Rapids already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Cedar Rapids breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever/Boxer breeders who help with Labrador Retriever/Boxer rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Cedar Rapids paves the way for another one to be saved.
