Avon's Story...
COURTESY POST - CONTACT BOARDING@KAMPK9.NET

Avon is a super young lady whose mama looks to be a mostly GSD, pictured here also. Mama Brooke came into Sacramento Independent Animal Rescue (SIAR) pregnant. Avon is the last of the litter awaiting adoption. She is almost 5 months old and currently weighs about 30 lbs. She will probably grow to about 50 lbs.

Avon was born with her litter at a sanctuary. From there, she went to a temporary foster home where her foster mama loved on her and gave her lots of one-on-one attention and an awesome foundation of training. She knows "sit" already and is learning to "wave."

She has now come to rescue ranch to learn to live as part of a busy household that includes lots of other dogs of all ages & sizes as well as kitties. Avon is pretty disinterested in the house kitties here so we think she'll be great in a home with cats.

Avon is a pretty mellow puppy. She is a little insecure when meeting new people and dogs, just the tiniest bit shy but is getting lots of practice with that and is getting more confident every day.

She has already learned about crates and is so great about going in for meals and bedtime! She has had a great start on obedience training from her first foster mama: come crate, sit, wave, sit up, stand. She is so attentive; we just know that she is going to be a star in her obedience classes, she really enjoys learning new things.

Avon is 17 weeks old now, up-to-date on all of her vaccinations. She has been spayed and microchipped.

Adoption fees range from $200-$250 for dogs. THE DOGS SHOWN ON THE SITE ARE IN FOSTERCARE - WE DO NOT HAVE A SHELTER TO VISIT. EMAIL is the best way to reach us. We are a volunteer run, very small organization - so please be patient when waiting for a response, but feel free to check back in if you haven't heard from us in a day or so - thank you so much for considering a rescued pooch!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Avon, a Sacramento German Shepherd Dog/Labrador Retriever puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a German Shepherd Dog/Labrador Retriever for sale in Sacramento, or seeking a German Shepherd Dog/Labrador Retriever puppy from a breeder in Sacramento.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Sacramento already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Sacramento breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even German Shepherd Dog/Labrador Retriever breeders who help with German Shepherd Dog/Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Sacramento paves the way for another one to be saved.
