My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

JABARI, 8 year old Male Brown Spotted Bengal
Jabari is a handsome, loving, and sociable eight-year old male brown spotted Bengal. He loves cats, wants to play with dogs, and is kind to adults and children alike. He would be a perfect cat for an adult who wants a sociable cat or a family with older children who understands and respect cats.
Jabari came into rescue having been abandoned by a breeder. When he first arrived, he was very skittish and also in need of medical care. Coming from the desperate situation of being abandoned and in pain, it was surprising that he wanted to talk with other cats and tolerated medicine and vet care. He remained in isolation while undergoing treatment and it was apparent to his foster mom that he had not been treated well previously. Even though he was sick, he still talked with other cats.
Jabari was then moved to another foster home in Salinas, CA where he adored the Pembroke Welsh Corgi and tried to play with the other cats in the house. Unfortunately, these cats were less playful than Jabari and he quickly learned to “keep his distance.” He also was placed on a grain free diet as his tummy is sensitive. He slept with a respectful 10-year old boy, purring contently at night and cuddling whenever possible. Because of the needs of rescue, Jarbari was moved to Lodi where he continued to recover from his ordeal.
In Lodi, he continued on his grain free diet and chatted with everyone that came to visit. He loves talking with people and giving small “head taps.” He helped decorate for Christmas and claimed a big stuffed moose as his new bed. He got along great with other cats and continued to develop socially into a “love me” Bengal.
As of very recently, Jarbari returned to his foster home in Salinas, CA. We try to avoid these moves, but sometimes we have to make do in rescue. Jabari fit right into the household, saying “hi” to the cats and dogs and talking with the humans. He is now a very loving cat, wanting to cuddle, rub faces, and, if you are very special, kisses. He still is a little nervous when there are loud, sudden noises, but has completely relaxed to the noise of an active household with dogs, cats, and children. He eats with the other cats without problem, sleeps with his foster parents (and children), and loves nothing move than having his head scratched while the human is reading a book.
When you come to meet Jabari, you will meet a beautiful Bengal who, after his initial shyness, is a talkative companion who wants nothing more than to be with you. It is best to keep him on a grain-free diet for his tummy, but he is an active cat who loves to “check in” from time to time. He loves respectful, cat savy older children. He is very respectful of other cats and dogs that are respectful of him and has not shown any signs of cat or dog aggression (but he will let others know if they are bothering him). He will make a great, handsome, and loving addition to the right family.
Jabari eats wet and dry food, and is litter box perfect. He is healthy, neutered, FELV/FIV negative, current on vaccinations and microchipped.
Jabari is being fostered in the Salinas area through Purebreds Plus Cat Rescue.
