UPDATE: As you can see from my new picture my fur is growing out and my foster family says that I am starting to look more and more like a fluffy furry eskie. They say I am also starting to act like a typical eskie. I have so much more energy than I did when I first came here. I have been running around the back yard and even playing with the other dogs here. I still get tired out but thanks to all the walks I have been going on I am starting to get back in shape. I think that my new diet has also been helping.
My foster family says that I am also getting the hang of this house training thing. They don't make me wear the belly band and diapers all the time. I still have some accident but I am trying my best.
Location: Altoona, PA.
Hi, my name is Tucker and I am probably about 16 years old, at least that's what the vet thinks I might be. I am a very laidback, quiet and affectionate Eskie mix looking to join a friendly family or individual who is willing to take on an older dog like myself. I love to get out for walks, but I walk a little slow, and I can’t go too far or I get tuckered out (that’s how I got my name).  My foster family says that I am great on a leash.  Besides walks, I like belly rubs, going for car rides, taking naps on the dog bed, treats and attention.  I often follow my foster mommy around the house because I love to be beside her.  Unfortunately, I do have some health issues.  My foster parents are trying to set up an appointment with the Vet to get my teeth cleaned as they were not taken good care of.  They hurt sometimes and when I pant a lot, people say I have stinky breath.  Also, I make messes, and I don’t mean to.  I am trying my best to go outside to do my business, but I am told that my kidney function is not very good and I also have to start eating a special diet.  My foster parents don’t scold me though and only encourage me to go outside the best I can, but they do make me wear a belly band or diapers when I am in the house.  My previous owners did not teach me how to live inside the house with everyone else.  I was kept outside in a small gravel yard for 13 years and crawled through a hole in the wall into an area of the basement for shelter.  I also had my hair shaved down really short so I would not have to go the groomers much. My foster family is waiting for my hair to grow back to see what color it is and how long my hair gets. My previous family could not find any pictures of me to show them what I look like with my fur grown out.

I try my best to be a good dog and I get along well with other dogs here and I even don’t mind cats.  My foster parents don’t think I would do good around young children due to my age and problems with incontinence, but I would be very kind to older children.  If you want to adopt me or even sponsor me so I can get my teeth cleaned, I promise I would always try to be a good boy and would forever be appreciative.

Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state.

If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you will have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Note: We may ask that you to make a donation to cover transport costs if the distance is great and we have trouble finding transport drivers.

There is an adoption fee required; and, please be aware, Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.

Eskie Rescuers United American Eskimo Dog Rescue, Inc. is an IRS-approved 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Please click the donation button below to make a tax-deductible donation through PayPal and help make a difference to even one American Eskimo dog!
