Henry's Story...
Henry is my name and I am a super handsome fellow. I have a sweet, mild and mellow disposition and just adore getting attention from all the visitors here. I had some health problems when I first arrived and had crystals in my urine but the wonderful veterinarians and staff I worked with got me on a special diet and gave me an extra cute and soft plush fish bed to help reduce my stress and I have been problem free since. I do need to eat a prescription food and am probably at a higher risk than some of my friends for having another urinary blockage but because I am doing so well the doctors and staff think that as an only pet in a quieter household I should do really well. My food may cost a bit more each month, around $40. What can $40 buy you? A night at the movies for two, dinner in a nice restaurant for one, or you could have me as an adoring new man in your life, I think that is a no-brainer! Before making the trip to visit the shelter we strongly recommend checking our website for information on adoption policies and procedures. Please understand that because we are a busy place and because so many animals need our care and attention, adoptions are on a first come basis and no animal will be put on hold, we appreciate your understanding and look forward to your visit! To inquire about a pet's availability or for more information please PHONE the shelter (978-283-6055 ex 10 for reception desk) instead of sending emails.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Henry, a Gloucester Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Gloucester, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Gloucester.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Gloucester already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Gloucester breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Gloucester paves the way for another one to be saved.
