My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

COURTESY POST

Grayce ~ 2.5 yr old female Russian Blue Mix
Living in Davis, CA

One of our favorite vets has some property in the country, where Grayce suddenly appeared one day. The vet’s family had been feeding another stray cat, and Grayce made friends with this kitty. She started to come by for breakfast and dinner every day but seemed interested in more familial arrangements: she would stay right by the kitchen door and rub her face on it. Finally the vet brought her into the house and soon after took her in for a veterinary checkup, including a physical, blood work, urinalysis, and stool sample for parasites. Everything was normal. Grayce also tested negative for FelV & FIV and has had her FVRCP and Rabies shots.

Grayce is a love bug, a sweetheart who likes to be petted, purrs all the time, flops over on her side, and likes to play. She is petite, weighing about 7.5-8 pounds. Having been abandoned and hungry for some time, she will tend to overeat, so the vet is careful about how much to feed her. Her new family will also want to watch her portions, at least for several months, at least until her food anxiety subsides. (In fact, watching the amount of food consumed by an adult cat makes sense in most cases. So many cats these days are overweight, and one might as well avoid that problem.)

Grayce gets along well with other cats and is currently sharing a space with one of the vet’s own cats, but her new family can also expect her to become attached to human family members. She does keep her claws in when you play with her, but if you seem to be about to leave when she feels that the play session shouldn’t be over, she will reach out and grasp for you. This grasping is a common behavior in cats, and many adults find it endearing, but because of it Grayce will not be placed in a home with small children.

Please note that Grayce is not in a Purebreds Plus Cat Rescue foster home but residing with her current owner/vet in the Davis area.
