My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

BULLET. Bullet is a true Isabella color He is a tiny sweet, quiet 6 lb boy whose home was in a pile of tires . He is frightened, and needs much love and attention. He just wants to be held! He is 4 to 6 yrs of age. He's at the vet for neuter, rabies dhpp bordetella pyrantly; dental with teeth extracted; nails, back dew claws removed; bloodwork, and treatment for skin ailments. Will be ready to go in a few days. This guy is loaded with potential.

UPDATE FROM FOSTER:
I love him, but he needs to be in a home where he likes his other doggy friends. I actually think he would benefit by being with another dog since he ran in a pack. He absolutely adores Mia,the silver dapple that we got from you when we were down there. We crate them together and he rests his little head on her back. She is so sweet to him. He could also be by himself if the person who has him is at home most of the time or is able to take him to work. Bullet comes to work with me every day. Here are some other things I learned about him as well:

He loves to sleep under the blankets with my husband and I at night He loves to ride in the car He loves men and women equally He is not the least bit shy around humans (not tested on young kids but does great with Courtney who is 12 years old) I don’t think he is a young kid dog though (under 8)

He loves to be held and loved. He does sleep a lot but will play with Mia as he is becoming more comfortable in his new human environment. Also, he has a snotty nose which I am taking him to the vet for today. He may not feel as well as he should.

He has not had an accident in my house. However, I am very careful to make sure he goes out often.

What Bullet does not like: He does not like to be left alone He does not like dogs that are excitable and “in his face” He does not like the male dogs that I have introduced him to (mine and a also a friend of mine). All of these dogs were “in your face” playful one year olds. May be ok with older male, not sure.

As you can see, his don’t like list is short. I love him and know that you will find him the perfect home.

Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same sex in a home and children need to be 10 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer no smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc) Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember these are rescues, many were surrendered because of these issues. All our dogs are fully vetted, including all shots, wormer & flea protection, nails trimmed, the works. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $350, no exceptions as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training. Can you give him a happy, carefree life again? If interested, please complete the adoption questionnaire at www.odr-inc.org and email it to: jrangan@comcast.net - the adoption committee will be in touch with you within 48 hours so please be patient as we are solely volunteer run.

SPECIAL RESCUE: ODR, Inc. has rescued six dachshunds from an appallingly awful hoarding situation in the Colton area. These little guys were totally neglected and running free without supervision on a 10 acre parcel with no one caring or feeding them. They all need significant vet care and some recovery. Plus they must be placed with experienced adopters. They are all runners and a fenced yard is an absolute necessity. They are at the vet, getting the care they need to save their lives and prepare them for a much better future. Please consider donation.
