Susie's Story...
This most adorable little girl is Susie, a shih Tzu that is between 5 and 7 years old that would love a wonderful home of her own. Susie came to us from our Newark facility when she was picked up as a stray, and we just can't imagine this precious little lady out on the city streets all alone. Susie belongs on the laps of people that love her! What an absolute doll Susie is....she's friendly, outgoing, affectionate and playful. It doesn't take much to make Susie happy, just give her some attention, take her for a leisurely stroll, and cuddle up with her on a soft sofa at night, and she'll love you forever. When our veterinarian examined Susie upon arrival, she discovered that Susie has an enlarged heart and also a heart murmur. This does not seem to affect Susie much, but she will require medication long-term, and we would like her to go to a more quiet, relaxed home. She doesn't seem to mind other dogs but should not go to a home with a very playful type of dog. If you feel that you are that special someone that Susie has been waiting for, please come on in and meet her. She'll love you always! 6/12/13 File#22530

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Susie, a Forked River Shih Tzu dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Shih Tzu for sale in Forked River, or seeking a Shih Tzu dog from a breeder in Forked River.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Forked River already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Forked River breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Shih Tzu breeders who help with Shih Tzu rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Forked River paves the way for another one to be saved.
