Cupcake is a five year old, 7 lb. Chihuahua - Miniature Pinscher mix. She is a delicate little Chi that looks like a tiny deer. Cupcake is beautiful! Two of her best features is her long ballerina legs and her tall ears. Cupcake is a great dog who is a victim of divorce. The adults split and the kids were told to chooses one dog. They chose the larger dog. Poor Cupcake had been their tiny baby since she was a puppy and suddenly found herself homeless.

Cupcake gets along with all other dogs and she loves to go to the dog park. At home she spends time with "the pack,” although she is a bit too small to wrestle with the others. She does love to play with toys and she will even fetch the tennis ball. This little dog is a master walker. She gets excited to see her little harness, does not pull on the lead, and motors through the neighborhood with true confidence. Cupcake's favorite thing to do, though, is to snuggle with people. She adores being on the couch for movie time and she is so content to snuggle under a blanket. Because Cupcake's original family had 3 kids, she really loves children. Although there aren't any kids in her foster home, she absolutely comes alive when she sees kids out on walks or at the park. Cupcake would do well with a family who has kids, even little ones, as long as they understand to be gentle with her. She is not snappy or yappy. Instead she will just back up if she is unsure of you. Her foster home now has a kitten and Cupcake is quite fine with the cat.

Because Cupcake was raised by one family and then was given up for foster care, she was very confused by the transition. She honestly thought her family was coming back for her and it took a while for her to trust that we were going to take good care of her. She is now leaps and bounds better, but is still cautious when introduced to new people, but she does eventually warm up once he realizes that you are friend not foe. Once your friendship is earned, she wants nothing more than to be held and petted. She will typically back up if you go to grab her, but if you instruct her to “stay,” she does and then you can go and pick her up. Also, if you sit down she will jump in your lap and may even give you kisses. Cupcake needs a home with someone who understands that these rescued dogs need some adjusting to a new environment.

Cupcake’s best fit seems to be a home with gentle, caring people, maybe kids or grandkids, or maybe another small dog. But Cupcake would do well as an only dog, too. She would love to tag along for car rides and go for walks in the park with her special person. Cupcake is crate-trained, and settles right down for nighttime sleeping. She learned the doggie door right away, and she is one of those rare dogs who knows how to alert us if she really needs to get outside but the door is shut. Cupcake had a nice home, and this loving and sweet dog needs to find her place again, where she knows that she is an integral part of the family and will not be abandoned again. Maybe that place is in your family?

Cupcake is spayed, fully vaccinated, as well as micro-chipped. If you are interested in Cupcake, please contact his foster mom, Wendy, at 949-374-2855 or wblanda@yahoo.com. You may also contact Janet Cook of the Angel’s Heart Dog Rescue at: 626-340-9316 or e-mail: adopt@angelsheartdogrescue.com
