My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

HI, I'M GRETA! I'M NOT YOUNG & GLAMOROUS, BUT I'M AWESOME!

Greta is up to date on all shots, heartworm negative and is spayed.

Greta was surrendered by her owner 3/11/13, along with numerous other Rottweilers. This unfortunate story made headlines in our small community. We're not sure of her age, but she's a super senior. We're committed to doing our best to find loving FOREVER homes for Greta and the other Rotties who remain in our care.

You may notice that Greta’s legs are a bit bowed, it's hard to say how long she's been in this condition, but she doesn't appear to be in pain and gets around very well. It's doubtful that orthopedic surgery would be advisable at this point in Greta’s life, given the pain and lengthy rehab she would have to endure. Honestly, this darling dog has no idea she has a handicap, and she seems to be very happy. Low-cost arthritis medications and supplements should keep her comfortable indefinitely. As a testament to how unaware of her "handicap" Greta is, volunteers have noticed that Greta is very interested in cars that pass during walks. She seems to want to chase them. You'll want to be mindful of this once you get Gretta home. One special consideration to keep in mind for Greta (or any senior dog with hip issues): Steps aren't her friend, and will certainly become more difficult for her in the future. For this reason, a 1-level home with as few steps as possible would be best for her, particularly as she gets older. Greta enjoys being with people and loves to please. Her recent living conditions apparently weren't so great, yet she's a happy girl. We want this wonderful dog to spend the rest of her life in a home where she'll receive the love and respect she deserves. Do you have room in your heart and home for this sweet girl?
