Olivia must have been a wonderful mama to her puppies and has probably produced many through-out her life. It is RARE that we rescue a dog this old from a puppy mill as a breeder dog - Most are "Bred-out" by the age of 3.
Olivia lived her life in a cramped kennel having puppy after puppy until she no longer was able to produce any and then she was thrown away like trash. We rescued her and have had her here for quite awhile - she was not spayed because of her age and she does not go in heat.
She might be a grumpy ol gal at times but loves to snuggle and burrow under her blankets. She gets that "burst of energy" and plays and runs with other quieter calm dogs. She is a typical senior citizen and takes many naps. But she is a love bug and deserves a HOME. Potty trained and up to date on vaccinations. Give this Ol'gal a home - she deserves it she survived HELL for years in a puppy mill !

About Island Safe Harbor Animal Sanctuary, Inc.

About Our Rescue Group...

To provide a safe and healthy environment for elderly, infirmed, terminal animals and to assist animal shelters with over-population of animals in need of care due to their inability to provide it, and un-adoptable animals, by providing a forever home where they can live out their lives in peace and in good health. In some cases, we do have adoptable animals, that we are trying to find good homes for.

To wipe out the image and mindset that animals are disposable. To educate people to understand all that's involved in care of the animals and allow them an affordable alternative. To stress the need for affordable health treatment to all involved in the medical care of animals and make it happen!

Our Adoption Process...

Adoption Policy

All applications are carefully screened by our adoption staff. With all of our adoptions, we talk with the potential adopters in detail about the animal in whom they are interested, especially if the animal has special needs.

Once an application is approved, the potential adopter is required to go through a home check. The home check ensures that the dog/cat is going into a safe and comfortable environment and that the adoption is the right fit for the dog/cat and the potential adopter. The home check is done by a Island Safe Harbor Animal Sanctuary, Inc. staff member.

The adoption donation varies per animal depending on medical cost incurred by the sanctuary.

Our adoption staff also does a follow-up after each adoption to ensure that the dog/cat is adjusting well to his/her new home and everyone is happy with the new member of the family.

Finally, we make a lifetime commitment to any animal we accept at the sanctuary. If, for any reason, an adopter can no longer care for the animal, we request that the adopter return the animal the Island Safe Harbor Animal Sanctuary, Inc.
